Run For The Wall

2005

The Vietnam Memorial - 5/27/2005

While on the Run For The Wall, I was asked to place these (flag and next to it a metal plaque) at the Wall.  Mission accomplished - 5/28/2005

As with most of the Vietnam pictures, they speak for themselves.

Salina, Kansas - 5/22/2005

The band playing for the RFTW riders in Salina, Kansas.

Wentzville, Missouri - this is where I received the US flag to place at the Wall.

So where do you think all those RFTW patches, pins, stickers, t-shirts come from?

Last year it was an accident on the last day.  This year it was a blown fuse two days before the end.  I've decided, with some encouragement, to bypass this whole area the next time...

The good folks at Shenandoah Harley in Waynesboro, West Virginia got me back up and running quickly.

The Chaplain kept giving me words of encouragement during the ride as I initially, as a result of the accident last year, kept holding back.

This is OJ and his wife Sue.  Us trailer folks traveled at the end of the pack so we got to know each other better than others may have.

Top isn't actually a 1st Sergeant but a Sergeant Major.  He picked me and my bike up after the accident in 2004 and again when the bike broke down in 2005.

This is the Yamaha shop in Hurricane, West Virginia where the ride ended for the day and we were allowed to setup camp.  In the middle of the picture, in the rear, you can see my popup camper right below the passing red car.  By this time, we had picked up lots of riders as we traveled across the country.

I'm not sure why it is that I can't remember the names of folks I rode with but at least I know he's Army!

He's from Colorado, has a Marine license plate and we rode together in 2004 and 2005 and I STILL CAN'T remember his name... Sheesh...

I don't know where Lisa found my bike but she did and it's even in the same color!

This RFTW embroidery is on my laundry bag.  It's big and very cool!

This is the last of the shirts.  I think I'll start the run with this...

These four pictures are of embroidery my wife, Lisa, did on my RFTW 2005 shirts.  This one speaks for itself.

Last year I didn't make it (see the photos) but this year I will!  I'm recovered from the accident and ready to ride!

This is the group photo taken at the Charleston, West Virginia state capital.  It was taken by the WV DOT.  I'm in the 4th row from the bottom on the left side; I'm wearing my yellow Aerostitch jacket.  From the left, on the first row, count 5 people in towards the middle then look slightly behind the guy and you'll see the yellow jacket - that's me.
