Motorcycle Accident
August 27, 2007
Sweet Road
Here's a before shot but without the Army covers. This was taken before I got the trailer and before I installed the motolights on the front brake calipers. |
Side view of the bike following crash. The seat was sheared off, it's just sitting there now. The left crash guard is detached from the bike as is the left saddlebag. We removed the Army primary cover and replaced it with the chrome you see here. The handlebars are bent, the motolights are trashed, and I suspect the frame is bent.
Front view of the bike. You can clearly see that the left side of the bike and the top took the brunt of the force. Hey, so did I... :-(
As you can see, the left saddlebag is detached from the bike and crushed. The contents were littered across a 30' debris field. While the seat is placed on the bike here, it was sheared off during the accident.
These were removed from the bike.

Notice the mufflers - they're SuperTrapps and were installed the Friday before, e.g. 3 days before the accident.

![]() Crash site where bike eventually landed.
![]() Skid Marks. Note how they start as I returned from the oncoming lane (bottom arrow), parallel the edge of the road, then go off (upper arrow). This corresponds to my memory of 'almost' bringing the bike under control. There is only one skid mark so it appears that only the rear brake was used. The skid mark is approximately 50' in length. |
![]() Upcoming turn. This and the following picture (completed turn) were taken from where the bike went off the road and just shy of where it eventually landed. As you can see (better) in the following picture, there is a ditch. The bike likely hit this ditch then flipped with me going with it. However, I was unable to find any specific marks in the ground where either the bike or I landed. Strange. |
![]() Just completed turn (yes, this is a shallow S-turn).
